Former QOTSA bassist Nick Oliveri facing up to 15 years in prison

Former Queens Of The Stone Age and current Kyuss LIVES bassist Nick Oliveri is facing up to 15 years in jail after being charged with firearm and drug offences.

Oliveri has been charged after an incident on July 12 when police were called to his apartment by his girlfriend after she reported he was refusing to let her leave the property. Oliveri's girlfriend also told police that he had struck her repeatedly during a heated argument the previous day

According to US gossip site TMZ.com, the bassist has been charged after officers searched his home and found quantities of cocaine and methamphetamines as well as a fully loaded rifle.

He has been formally charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one misdemeanor count of resisting, obstructing or delaying a peace officer. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

Oliveri was fired from Queens Of The Stone Age in 2004. Josh Homme was initially reluctant to reveal the reasons for sacking his bandmate, but was later persuaded to admit that it was down to allegations of domestic violence on Oliveri's part. He is due in court next month.
